Jimmy Lizarraga is a 2012 C/ with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends John F Kennedy. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength. Right handed hitter with a upright, straight stance and high leg kick trigger. Drives lower half with linear actions producing good shift into contact. Hands load to a slightly lower plane with occasional barrel tilt. Shows a compact, line drive swing plane with present bat speed through the zone. Swings with big intent to drive the baseball deep into the gaps. Strong hands with extension through contact that generates tight backspin off the barrel. Worked out defensively from behind the plate showing a slightly taller set. Quick exchanges while ripping ball across chest to throw. Gains ground well through transition with downhill angle to second base. Good arm strength topping at 83 mph with a best pop time of 1.94. Moves well behind the plate with soft hands while receiving. Also ran a 6.85 sixty-yard dash. Recently graduated from Mount Mercy University.
