Zachary Gakeler is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Jobstown, NJ who attends Northern Burlington. Tall frame, loose athletic build with room to fill, projects well physically. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot, loose arm action. Pitched with very little effort, velocity was up to 88 earlier in the summer and was mid-upper 80s at multiple tournaments. Attacked the strike zone well, maintains arm speed on secondary pitches well. 1-7 shape to curveball, sharp slider, flashed solid changeup as well. Fastball has good lefty tailing action, maintains balance through delivery well. Projectable pitching prospect, verbal commitment to Pitt.
