Tyler Coyle is a 2009 LHP with a 5'10'', 140 lb. frame from Clemmons, NC who attends West Forsyth HS. He has a very young and slender build with minimal present strength. Coyle is a very good athlete despite his slender, young frame and stood out in all areas of the game. On the mound, he throws from a smooth delivery with a long, easy arm action and is a bit cross body on his release. Coyle threw 75-78 mph on his fastball and lived on the outside half of the plate to right handed hitters. He has a big, sweeping breaking ball that he liked to back door right handers with and maintained good arm speed on his change up. Coyle had an advanced idea how to pitch and should continue to improve as he gets stronger. Coyle isn't strong enough to drive the ball yet as a hitter but squares up on the ball well and has a smooth swing. He picked up two triples in games hitting the ball down the lines. He's a very smooth defender at first base and will save his team some runs with his balance and soft hands. It's hard to project Coyle getting much bigger and stronger given his frame but he's a good athlete and very good baseball player who really enjoys being on the field. He was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
