Lawson Shickel is a 2025 C/RHP, 2B, 3B, OF, UT with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Bloomington, IL who attends University High School. Recorded a 7.30 sixty yard dash time. Medium frame with a slender build. Primary catcher, square set up, gains ground moving into right-handed batters box replaces feet well. Transfer at the chest with some quickness. Also threw an inning on the mound. Worked exclusively from the stretch with a belt high leg lift with tall and fall mechanics and a three- quarters arm slot. Fastball showed effective running action up in the zone. Feel for the curveball with 11-5 shape and some depth. Developing arm action that will produce more consistent results. Switch-hitter, starts with a wide base with a rotational swing. Pull-heavy approach with a lot of lift. Gets hands to the ball with good extension to drive it. Same set up as a left-handed hitter with a more up the middle, opposite field approach. Rotational swing that is more contact-oriented. Intriguing young player with a good ceiling as an all-around player. Excellent student.
