2022 Northern California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Daniel Paul is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 5-11 182 lb. frame from Orangevale, CA who attends Bella Vista. Features a high-waisted build with athleticism and strength present. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Showcased quality actions during outfield workouts. Maintains body control throughout an aggressive approach. Catches the ball cleanly on a consistent basis. Transfers well into throws using small crow hop. Short arm action produces accurate throws with a fair amount of carry. Left-handed hitter. Utilizes a slight open stance with a wide base and low hand setup. Displayed a linear bat path with quality bat speed throughout. Remains balanced in the box while hitting off a firm front side. Creates some loft within swing allowing the ball to be hit in the air often. Has the ability to use the entire field. Continuing to develop barrel accuracy will help generate more power in the profile. Threw well as a left-handed pitcher too. Utilized a tall and fall delivery with efficient movements down the mound. A big leg kick and slight crossfire creates some deception. Ball comes out of clean, 3/4 arm action well. Has the ability to repeat the easy operation consistently. The fastball sat 77-79 mph with armside movement. Quality command and movement make the pitch hard to barrel. Paired with a changeup at 71-73 mph. Offering showcased solid fading action with arm speed deception. Pitch has swing and miss ability. Also flashed a mid-60’s curveball with curve action. Pitch has some bite when thrown with conviction. Solid three-pitch mix overall with a quality delivery down the mound. Very good student.
