2024 Preseason HS Prospect Showcase
Max McCawley is a 2027 RHP/1B, 2B, 3B, OF with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Fort Lauderdale, FL who attends Pine Crest. Tall, compact build with present strength. Ran a 8.64 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, stretch only delivery, hands come set at the belt, belt high leg lift, full arm path in the back to a three-quarters slot. Has arm speed and ran the fastball up to 80 mph (1770 RPM). Showed good feel for 11-5 shaped curveball, up to 69 mph (1964 RPM). Right-handed hitter, wide base with high hands and back elbow, strength translates to the bat speed as he routinely got the bat head out front. Consistently on the barrel with low liners all over the field. Secondary first baseman, good bounce off the bag with fundamentally sound footwork, fed the double play well with arm strength and accuracy to both bags, recorded throws up to 79 mph. Also worked out in the infield, corner profile with good athleticism, same footwork and arm strength we saw at first base, recorded throws up to 81 mph. Tremendous student.
