2025 PG Puerto Rico National Showcase Qualifier
Ricardo Gabriel Paz Alvira is a 2027 C/RHP with a 5-11 193 lb. frame from Ceiba, PR who attends International Baseball Academy. Medium build with good present strength. 7.40 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up one knee down, controlled actions coming out of his crouch and into his throws, throws from a high arm slot, longer transfers, has good arm strength and carry to his throws. Right handed hitter, sets up in a spread stance with a long and loose swing, can get early with his front side, looking to pull and lift the ball, was well timed in the games and drove the ball hard with nice bat speed. Took a turn on the mound, works from the stretch with a deep turn over the rubber, high 3/4's arm slot and good arm speed, rotational delivery. Fastball topped out 86 mph, works mostly to the arm side with slight running life. Also threw a sweeping slider with developing consistency. Good student.
