Ryland Denson is a 2024 MIF/RHP, 2B, 3B, SS, IF, UT with a 5-7 140 lb. frame from Chapel Hill, NC who attends Carrboro. Medium, slender frame with room to add strength and fill out. Recorded a 4.09 second thirty-yard dash time. Primary middle-infielder with aggressive actions into the fielding process, a deeper funnel to field and good lateral range to either side. Showed a quick first step and the ability to get to each ball with proper footwork. Recorded arm strength up to 77 mph across during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with a belt high leg lift and medium stride length out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the mid-70s for the majority of his outing, ticking slightly up at times and topped out at 77 mph from a loose, three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with developing command of the strike zone. Snapped off a few swing-and-miss breaking balls with both horizontal and vertical tilt to it, generating plenty of empty swings with it. Will continue to improve with some mechanical refinements and additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a crouched, open stance with a tight hands set, high back elbow and hanging leg lift trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics, some compact hand speed and a slightly elongated swing path. Displayed mostly middle and pull-side contact with occasional line drive when in-sync and on-time, will continue to improve with proper swing mechanics and additional strength. Excellent Student.
