Evan Newlander is a 2022 RHP with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Canyon Crest Academy. Slender athletic build with lots of room to fill in and get stronger. High front side delivery with a high 3/4's arm slot, hides the ball in his takeaway well, creates good downhill plane to his pitches when he gets over his front side, consistency getting over his front side can be further developed. Fastball worked mostly in the upper 70's, topped out at 82 mph early. Flashed good spin to both a big breaking curveball and a tilting slider with some sharpness, will develop better command of these pitches with more consistent mechanics. Excellent student.
