Alex Fernandes is a 2021 SS/RHP, IF, OF with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from San Marcos, CA who attends San Marcos. Showed good speed and athleticism, running a 6.58-second sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with a medium frame that has room to fill out and add strength. Moves quick with fluidity and good glove actions. Shows some range to both side, showcasing good arm strength with throws across the diamond at 87 miles per hour. Left-Handed hitter that starts from a tall and slightly open stance, with quick hands and a line drive barrel plane through the zone. Uses the lower half well, showcasing good feel for the barrel with a contact-oriented, middle of the field approach. Secondary right-handed pitcher that works exclusively out of the stretch with a belt high leg lift and slight drop and drive actions down the mound. Has a shorter arm action in the back, releasing from a high three-quarter arm slot before falling slightly to the glove side at release. Locates the fastball well to the glove side with some run to that glove-side at 79-83 miles per hour. Shows a sweeping slider in the upper-60s with developing feel to land for strikes, projects to be a nice pitch in the future. Pitches up in the zone effectively and misses barrels with consistency.
