2017 California Underclass Showcase
Caden Aoki is a 2021 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Edison. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Primary shortstop with with clean footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front and worked through exchange with fluidity. Primarily released from a three-quarters slot but showed the athleticism to change arm slots while on the run, topped at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Clears hips well and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Compact hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Stayed balanced throughout with the barrel control to work to all fields. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced at gather. Deep arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly with running life to arm side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Maintained arm speed well with a curveball that had tighter spin and solid depth in the low 70's. Excellent student. Named to the 2017 California Underclass Showcase, Top Prospect List.
