Robert Read is a 2022 1B/LHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Foothill Ranch, CA who attends Trabuco Hills. Primary first base with a tall, lanky frame. Has room to grow. Fields the ball deep with good footwork and control. Shows good arm strength and accurate throws. Throws have nice carry and zip to the corners. Showed ability to move well. Secondary left-hander pitcher with a short, compact three-quarter delivery. Pitches with good tempo and arm speed. Fastball sat 73-77 mph. Shows feel for spin with a 67 mph breaking ball with depth and occasional bite for whiffs. Missed some barrels with his two-pitch mix. Left-handed batter with a slow, deliberate load in his setup. High handset with some loft in the path. Showed some bat speed and extension through the zone. Strength translates at the plate, drove it well to all fields. Ability to create some drive on his front side for contact. Excellent student.
