Ryland Chastain is a 2023 C/RHP/UT with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Los Alamitos, CA who attends Westminster. Medium frame with a lean build. Ran a 7.63 second 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, sets up low in his stance, has some length getting the ball out of the glove but releases quickly form a short arm action that will improve results on throws as he adds strength to the arm. Also worked out in both the infield and outfield, shows loose and athletic actions in the outfield with solid arm strength on throws and has a good internal clock in the infield with enough range to get to balls laterally. Left-handed hitter, sets up wide and uses a simple stride in; fires his hips hard into the swing, gets good leverage with his hands and uses length well through the zone with best contact coming when he lifted the ball to the pull side.
