Andrew Scalia is a 2024 OF/RHP/C with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Windber, PA who attends Windber Area. Recorded a 7.32 second sixty-yard dash time. Larger, strong looking frame with some strength throughout and room to physically mature. Primary outfielder with solid defensive skill set and good arm strength. Comes and gets it aggressively, gathers cleanly off his front foot and carries momentum into release fairly well. Recorded accurate throws up to 88 mph during outfield drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that works from a full windup delivery with drop-and-drive lower half mechanics and extension out in front. Fastball worked in the upper-70s to low-80s for most of his outing and topped out at 83 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Developing command of the strike zone with his four-pitch mix, will need to make refinements mechanically to improve. Mixed in a developing changeup and varying shaped breaking ball as his secondary offerings, will need to throw both with more conviction in order to enhance sequencing and deception. Took part in the catchers defensive portion of the workout as well and showed a developing defensive skill set with arm strength up to 72 mph from behind the plate during drills. Receives from a higher setup with some length to his arm action and some ground gained towards his target. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, even base with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Slightly lofted stroke with present bat speed and some feel for the barrel. Pull-side mentality with rotational lower half mechanics and best impact to that side. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments. Solid, developing skill set with some positional versatility. Good Student.
