2023 California Workout Showcase (Sunday)
Keyan Park is a 2026 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B, OF with a 5-8 130 lb. frame from Irvine, CA who attends Portola. Lean, slender frame with square shoulders, a high waist and plenty of room to physically mature. Recorded a 7.46 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with smooth, fluid actions throughout the fielding process. Active footwork with some bounce in his steps. Displayed good lateral range from side-to-side, soft hands and good adjustability to the baseball. Worked downhill through the baseball with intent and showed the ability to change arm angles when necessary. Recorded accurate throws up to 73 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with controlled movements and good rhythm. Used a slightly coiled leg lift and drop-and-drive lower half mechanics to move efficiently down the slope. Simple, repeatable operation with strong front side and good extension through release. Fastball worked in the mid-70s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 76 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Displayed good command of the strike zone with his fastball and mixed in a promising breaking ball that varied in shape. Slurve shaped breaking ball showed both vertical and horizontal tilt to it when thrown with conviction and he tunneled it effectively. Showed aptitude for spin and pitchability, will continue to improve with additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, open base with a tight hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Simple, repeatable stroke with tightness to his turns and developing feel for the barrel. Mostly middle-of-the field approach with the ability to turn the barrel over on the inner-half. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Immensely projectable frame with sound defensive skills and tons of physical upside on both sides of the baseball. Excellent Student.
