2022 New York Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Shane Slezak is a 2023 C/3B with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Malta, NY who attends Ballston Spa. Extra-Large frame with some present lower half strength and room to physically mature. Primary catcher that receives from a higher, even base with soft hands and short, direct mid-line transfer. Works uphill out of the crouch towards his target, uses step-and-replace footwork and works into a slightly elongated arm action. Showed some present arm strength up to 75 mph from behind the plate during drills and was fairly accurate to his throws. Will continue to improve with proper footwork adjustments and additional strength. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wide, slightly open stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and small hanging trigger. Pullside approach with rotational lower half mechanics and elongated swing path, does create some present bat speed and impacts the baseball when on-time. Has tendency to get downhill at times with his hand path, but exhibits strength at impact and some power potential. Solid, overall skill set with some upside remaining. Very Good Student.
