Cooper Obst is a 2026 C/1B/3B with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Fort Lauderdale, FL who attends Pine Crest. Taller, lean frame with wiry strength and a lot of time to add overall physicality. Ran the 60-yard dash in 7.44 seconds. Primary position catcher, starting with a higher initial stance and a bit offset. Clean glove work with good midline transfer and on point footwork. Gains ground directly and aids medium arm path in creating feeds up to 72 mph on the bag with pop-time best 2.10 seconds. Nice backstop skillset here. Switch hitter. From the left side, working from a wider base with a bit of torso tilt away from the mound pre-pitch. Barrel accelerates through a good path with an occasional upward path. Bat speed is present and loose wrists and hands deliver the barrel with some violence. From the right side, starting with a similar stance and more compact overall mechanics here. Direct to the ball with hands and some whip to impact. Intriguing catchers skillset with the ability to hit from both sides of the plate.
