Evan Herr is a 2023 C/RHP, OF with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Redondo Beach, CA who attends Mira Costa. Medium, higher waisted frame with a lean and projectable build, has room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher set behind the plate in drills, receives the ball out front, high take back into transfer, higher slot with longer release, arm strength and carry will continue to improve. Fields the ball out front in the outfield, some bend at waist, extra steps moving through the ball, tends to get uphill with release, shows carry to intended base when working on top of throws. Also pitched, small side step moving into a mid leg lift, high front side with a short arm action through the back; fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly true with occasional cut action. Maintains arm action on changeup, short fading life when working to arm side up to 71 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and lower back elbow; utilizes a gliding leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Does a nice job of staying shorter to the ball at launch, full path through the zone with a linear path. Keeps hands inside the ball, best contact when getting the barrel out front, can work the opposite field gap with line drives. Excellent student.
