Tyler Kersey is a 2022 C with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Roseville, CA who attends Oakmont. Medium, athletic frame with broadness to shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 7.49 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, slight turn at start during drills, receives the ball out front, gains ground with lower half coming out of set up, solid catch-and-throw skills with present arm strength and carry to second base, repeats footwork well. Also pitched, side step moving into a higher leg lift, loads onto back side and drive down the mound; medium arm circle working to a higher three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, some whip to the arm and works over front side well, finishing to the plate. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and utilizes a low leg lift moving into contact for timing. Shows present hand speed through the zone and works on a linear plane. Creates occasional back spin at point of contact, stays behind the ball well and can lift to the opposite gap, swings with intent and creates some separation in swing, occasionally opens front side early. Very good student. Named to NorCal Workout Top Prospect List.
