James Janak is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Columbus, TX who attends Columbus HS. Big and strong build with long arms and room to get even stronger. Hip turn delivery with a long off-line arm action in back leading to a low 3/4's arm slot coming through, lower half stays in line well, rotational finish, has some deception and hides the ball well. Fastball worked in the mid 80's and topped out at 87 mph with some running action. Showed a lively change up that will both fade and cut at different times. Also threw a short low spin slider with a bit of sweep. 7.61 runner in the sixty. Worked out in the outfield in drills and showed his arm strength well, more a first base athlete in the games. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a long and extended swing, hits around the ball for mostly pull side contact. Signed with Sam Houston State. Named to the World Showcase Top Prospect List.
