Roman Gambelin is a 2021 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 6-1 167 lb. frame from Redwood City, CA who attends Bellarmine College Prep. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, and a projectable build with room to fill throughout. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front and hands play nicely, works through the ball with footwork and can adjust to the hop, has confidence in actions, low slot on throws across the diamond and shows some carry on to first base, maintained balance well on the charge. Also pitched, high leg raise at start of delivery, incorporates lower half well working into a mid three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, big running life to the pitch with a low effort operation; filled the strike zone and mixed three pitches, breaking ball shows sharpness with depth up to 69 mph and occasional slurve shape, flashed a quality changeup at 70 mph as well which plays well off of fastball. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; limited shift through lower half moving into contact. Utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing, keeps hands inside the ball through swing and projects with additional extension, upper body dominant swing, showed comfort working the middle of the field when on time.
