Joseph Grant II is a 2025 MIF/C/OF with a 5-3 90 lb. frame from Texas City, TX who attends Texas City. Small build athlete posted an 8.86 in the 60 yard dash, has some fundamentals to polish during his maturing stages to be able to compete with his tools. Primary MIF, shows much better use of his agility and light footwork compared to his overall speed. He moves around well showing some short burst and quick reaction. Takes straight line routes to plays on both sides, has the range just loses control of the body. Arm works from one slot, chops the footwork up to throw. Worked the outfield, his infield actions translate here showing a middle funnel with two hands to gather and a lower arm slot to throw releasing under the ball. Not much drive through the ball, fields and gets it out of the hand off a shuffle throw. At the plate, the right handed hitter starts open with a spread stance showing a high hands and back elbow set. Fought hard against opposite field contact, struggled to get the barrel out front. The loose swing does not show much control, just looking to connect. Uses a big leg lift trigger and lets the body drift forward on it, gets a a bit too spread when he lands and loses the lower half to swing. Has time to adjust his swing and develop a timing mechanism that will help advance his offensive production immensely.
