Avery Lackey is a 2022 OF/RHP, 3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Clermont, FL who attends South Lake. Medium frame with an athletic build. Primary outfielder with smooth paced footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions and pick up and worked through exchange with extended actions. Released from a mdi three-quarters arm slot generating occasional carry to the bag at 75 mph. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance. Clean hand path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Displayed some feel for the barrel while employing a mid field to pull side approach. Also pitch utilizing a side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created occasional downhill tilt to the bottom of the zone in the low to mid 70's, topped at 76 mph. Curveball had 10/5 shape with looser spin and occasional depth in the low 60's. Consistently located within the zone and challenged hitters. Very good student as well.
