Vik Vakati is a 2022 SS/RHP/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Cromwell, CT who attends Xavier. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean build with plenty of room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.92 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front with two hands, extra step moving into release, longer actions in the dirt but shows nice present arm strength and carry across the diamond. Arm strength plays nicely in the outfield, fields out front, full arm action and works through the ball, shows carry and strength on throws, effort at release. Also pitched, simple turn into delivery with a quick leg lift up past belt, longer arm action through the backside working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, mostly true in life but works on top and generates plane. Threw 4 pitches for strikes and consistently mixed; tunnels the curveball well and sells it nicely up to 69 mph with short depth and 12-6 shape while slider has late cut action to it and plays well off of the fastball. Flashed a changeup up to 77 mph with fading action when staying through the ball. Right-handed hitter, begins with a deep hand load at start of swing and utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Long swing path through the zone and swings with intent, shows nice carry off of the barrel when squared and put together a very nice offensive display in game with several extra-base knocks to the gaps. Aggressive at the plate, present bat speed through the zone. will get mistimed occasionally. Excellent student. Named to Fall Connecticut Top Prospect List.
