Mason Welch is a 2023 3B/1B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Vivian, LA who attends Northwood. Large frame with strong, athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.36 seconds. Hits from even-based stance with high back elbow, smaller load in hands, rotational swing through, good strength in swing, sprays the ball around on a line, showed the ability to get the head out and drive the ball pull side. Shows good athleticism and hands in the infield, comes in on the ball well and attacks, balanced footwork, clocked up to 74 mph across. Also pitched, lengthy arm stroke with hook through the back, pitches at the top of the zone, generates good life on fastball to arm side, has good upside on the mound with arm talent, fastball worked 74-78 mph. Excellent student.
