Richard Ratchford III is a 2022 RHP/OF with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Huntington, NY who attends Long Island Lutheran. Large ,square shouldered frame with long limbs and a high waist, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, works exclusively out of the stretch, controls body well on the mound and works on top of ball nicely, shows a long arm action through the back, able to induce ground ball contact when working down in zone. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, pitched to contact, mixed in a changeup with comfort and worked around the zone. Takes long strides moving towards the ball in the outfield, fields the ball out to side, works into a shorter arm action, some bend at waist, works around intended base with throws and has carry to them, made an excellent over-the-shoulder catch in live action. Left-handed hitter, begins with a medium hand set and an open and upright stance in the box. Consistent contact in the box, keeps weight on backside and can continue to implement additional weight shift moving into swing. Stays short to the ball and looks to lift at point of contact, occasionally gets uphill, shows some strength in hands. Good student.
