Deacon Nelson is a 2026 SS/OF with a 6-0 183 lb. frame from Twinsburg, OH who attends University School. Lean athletic build with some present strength to keep building on. 6.46 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, who worked out at the position well. Clean hands with good glovework into the funnel. Gets through it well on the backhand. Higher slot with throws at 89 mph during his round. Made the plays well with some accuracy across and good feel moving around at shortstop. Took BP as a left-handed hitter with a spread base, lower hands, and a lower back elbow. He starts vertical with a small stride inward. Inside swing path, with a shorter path to contact. Loads up and turns on it with a ton of barrel whip. Aggressive swing. Mostly worked backside and settled gap-to-gap during his round of BP swings. Produced some low-90s EVs during BP. Pumped a double in-game at 101 mph with a good swing shown. Great student. Verbal commitment to Auburn.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
