Edwin Joel Ortiz is a 2021 2B/3B with a 5-5 145 lb. frame from Guayama, PR who attends IBAHS. Smaller and athletic frame. Ran a 7.40 second 60 yard dash. Primary second baseman, worked out in the infield with good hands, waits on the ball a bit, shows comfortability to actions, arm plays well, topped out at 77 mph across the infield. Right-handed hitter, starts narrow and moves into a wide base, rocks into the swing, stays short to the ball, smooth hands, stays on line drive swing plane with consistent line drive contact, shows some pop to the pull side, repeats operation well. Line drive approach and looks to work the whole field. Barrel plane allows the barrel to work to both gaps with carry.
