Jack Nelson is a 2022 C/3B, OF with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Leawood, KS who attends Rockhurst. Primary catcher with a side straddle set up and smooth lower half actions. Some athleticism present in the lower half, has quick feet and is fast out of the chute. Quick transfer and release, stays low to throw, could gain more ground towards second base with the footwork. Recorded a 2.00 second pop time at 74 mph. Right-handed hitter with an open stance, really glides into the swing. Longer swing path, stays balanced and gets extended, tends to get up on the front foot too much. Pre-pitch bat waggle can cause him to be late at times. Contact-oriented hitter with a gap to gap approach. Produced some solid contact and showed the ability to elevate. Great student.
