Colby Podratz is a 2022 3B/RHP, C, MIF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Valley Center, CA who attends Classical Academy. Lean and athletic build with plenty of room to still fill and strengthen as he continues to develop. Primary infielder, is meticulous with his glove work and moves well to his forehand side. Arm strength across the diamond will develop nicely alongside his build. On the mound, has a longer controlled arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Comes up to a high leg kick then stays tall on his backside throughout. Looks to his establish his 74-77 mph fastball early and commands it well to both sides of the plate. Also mixes in a high 11-to-5 shaped curveball. Behind the plate, he sets up in a conventional crouch and shows quickness to his transfer. Throws down to second base have good carry. Posted a 2.00 second pop time in the workouts. At the plate, uses a wide and even stance with a low leg kick trigger. Slightly elevated barrel plane through the zone with a higher finish. Showcased good developing bat speed, middle of the field approach, good student in the classroom as well.
