Matthew Seelagy is a 2023 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Morristown, NJ who attends Oratory Prep. Recorded a 5.43 second forty-yard dash time. Medium, high waisted frame with long levers and plenty of room to fill out. Primary infielder, young and athletic actions, good lateral range to both sides and the ability to throw from multiple arm angles across. Displayed quick first step, clean funnel out in front and relatively quick transfer into release. Recorded arm strength up to 73 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-hand pitcher, full windup delivery with lower leg lift and short stride out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the 69-72 mph range for the duration of his outing, topping out at 73 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with developing command within the strike zone, mixing up his two-pitch effectively to disrupt timing. Curveball is still in the developmental stages, flashing loose spin traits and gradual 12-6 break to it. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, exaggerated open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and hover trigger. Contact oriented stroke with good bat-to-ball skills and some feel for the barrel. Middle-to-opposite field approach due to slightly elongated and flat swing path. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Good Student.
