Brandon Van Dam is a 2008 1B/P with a 6'6'', 215 lb. frame from Lancaster, CA who attends Quartz Hill HS. He has an extra long and strong build and could be scary strong if he works at it. Van Dam is a 2-way prospect depending on the level he ends up at. Offensively, he has a long, lofted swing tha depends on timing and rhythm to make contact. He hits from a very wide stance with a rock back load and can really hit the ball a long way against mediocre stuff that he can get extended to. He has a hitter's approach and isn't just driving the ball by accident, but high velo fastballs and off speed stuff outside will be a challenge. On the mound, Van Dam thows 88-90 mph from a long arm stroke with mimimal effort, He has good feel for his change up but little for his curveball at this point. Given that he has much more strength in his frame, he could throw very hard in the future.
