Carter Matthews is a 2019 OF/LHP with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Pittsfield, MA who attends Pittsfield. Medium frame with slender, athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 6.75 seconds. Hits from upright stance with toe tap trigger, hands cock back into load, quiet pre-movement patterns, compact hand path with hands close to body throughout, steep entry to zone, creates line drive swing plane. Worked out in the outfield, comes in on ball well but halts momentum to field, reads hops well, good footwork to and through, lower slot release, clocked up to 76 mph on throws. Also pitched, mostly upper half delivery, compact arm stroke to high three quarters slot, fastball worked 71-76 mph with plane and good life, worked to lower half of zone well, mixed in solid breaking ball as well. Excellent student.
