Austin Franzen is a 2021 OF/RHP, 3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Spragueville, IA who attends Easton Valley. Medium frame with a strong and lean build. Primary right-handed pitcher with a quick leg kick and a segmented and stiff operation. Throws a heavy fastball and sat 77-79 mph. Arm stays in line through the back and the body stays directional towards the plate. Simple and repeatable mechanics, lives at the top of the zone with the fastball. Shows a 12/6 downer curveball that he can spin well and land for a strike, also flashed a changeup. Right-handed hitter with an even base and high back elbow set, utilizes a no stride timing mechanism. Limited weight shift in either direction, swing path is inconsistent at times. Stays directional, line drive swing plane with solid contact, will see impact potential improve as he uses the lower half more actively.
