Chris Smith is a 2023 2B/SS/OF with a 5-10 128 lb. frame from Chesapeake, VA who attends Hickory. Slender medium build. Right handed hitter, loads deep onto his back side from a spread and open stance, timing to get to his front side is inconsistent at present, swings hard and has good looseness to his swing with some extension through contact, hands are pretty short and direct to the ball, drove the ball well to right centerfield when he was timed up, has hitting tools to develop with repetitions and additional strength. 7.42 runner, has quick and active feet on defense in the infield and outfield, moves to the ball well. Arm action strongly suited best for second base at present, compact with a low slot, tends to get his glove down late in the infield which is correctable with coaching. Good overall athlete who should continue to improve. Very good student.
