Dylan Proost is a 2023 1B/RHP with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Lakewood, CA who attends St. John Bosco. Dylan is a large framed strong athlete who has a highly projectable future in the game. In addition to his obvious talent on the diamond, Dylan is also a standout in the classroom. He ran a highly impressive 6.88 60 yard dash. A primary 1B, has the look of an advanced corner player. It is very obvious that Dylan pays attention in the weight room and that strength enables him to play a tick better than most. The body language and confident disposition Dylan brings to the yard tells many that baseball is important to him. His play at 1B is highlighted by his quick and nimble footwork. He looks comfortable around the bag. His hands are smooth and easy which enables his glove work to be pure and consistent. The rhythm to his defensive game is advanced. All of his 81 mph throws come out of his hand with quick action and his tosses are consistently true to the target. Dylan also took a turn on the mound where he knows how to use his size and strength to his advantage. He has a prototypical power RHP approach. He gets deep into his lower half in his wind-up and explodes towards the plate. He works primarily off his active 84-86 mph two-seam fastball that shows plus arm side run and some biting sink. Although he can elevate with a four seamer, his FB game is more suited for the lower half of the zone. His 71 MPH slider is a great compliment to his plus heater. He works it primarily to the glove side edge and it shows sharp, quick, and late break at the plate. Easy to see RHH struggling against this pitch. His 72 mph change up is a mature offering that will give LHH fits for years to come. He throws the CH with FB arm action. The CH tunnels from the FB window and shows some fade and late tumble at the dish. At the plate, Dylan's imposing size and swing operation really project. He has a definite feel for swinging the stick. He incorporates his solid lower half into each pass creating the torque necessary to drive the ball with authority. His simple load and quick, powerful trigger allows him to get his barrel to and through contact with loud force. He can strike the baseball. It is hard to believe just looking at Dylan that he is only a HS sophomore. He will have the ability to be a two-way player for a number of years. His actions offensively and defensively, as well as on the mound, have to make him on of the better class of 2023 prospects, not only in the state of California, but in the country.
