Matthew Strand is a 2021 C/IF with a 6-0 205 lb. frame from Suwanee, GA who attends North Gwinnett. Large and strong frame with present physicality on his build. Ran a 7.03 second 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, square set behind the plate with athleticism in his movements, receives out in front, low transfer, compact arm with strength down to second base, 2.03 second best pop time in drills. Secondary infielder, fields the all out in front and works through it well, shuffles with a glove pump release, carry to throws, best actins shown when moving in on the baseball. Right-handed hitter, wide base stance in the box, quiet lower half, low effort swing with some jump off of the barrel, power potential in the swing. Good student. Named to 2020 Fall Southeast Showcase Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Marshall.
