James Boone is a 2021 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 125 lb. frame from Sammamish, WA who attends Eastside Catholic HS. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength with continued physical development. Primary left handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Shorter arm circle at take back and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Hides baseball pretty well with a fastball offering that flashed some cut to glove side in the upper 60's to low 70's, topped at 71 miles per hour. Showed good feel for a 1/7 breaking ball that had solid spin with occasional late depth. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean glove actions while funneling out front and working through exchange. Moves to each side well and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated accurate carry across the infield topping at 75 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, even stance. Creates some lower half shift into contact and employed a loosed, extended swing path. Flashed some natural lift through the hitting zone and showed developing feel for the barrel. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
