Diego Mendoza is a 2019 C/ with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Pompano Beach, FL who attends Coral Springs Christian Academy. Solid present strength on size on the build with current physicality and broad shoulders. Primary catcher with a quick transfer and accurate throws. Arm strength up to 72 mph from the crouch with a short path to release. Hands and transfer all work in synchronization well. Righthanded hitter with a spread open stance. Leg lift trigger into contact with an easy, elastic hand load. Slight separation into the swing and can impact the ball hard to create good jump off the barrel. Turns the barrel over well to make consistent contact to the pull side but can get to all fields well. Has raw strength and power that can translate well to a power profile. Line drive swing plane with strength through the lower half and showed present bat speed. Excellent student.
