Michael Hamp is a 2018 RHP/2B, 3B with a 5-11 182 lb. frame from Rocklin, CA who attends Whitney. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced, side step delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum through finish. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some lift out of hand with heavy run in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tighter spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Flashed good arm speed with a changeup offering that had solid sink with run to arm side in the low 70's. Consistently pounded the zone with all three pitches and flashed some feel to work to each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing deliberate footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Developing glove actions while funneling from a slightly deeper position. Smooth paced exchanges and generating some on line carry across the infield, topped at 76 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple front side trigger. Compact hand set and load and works to contact on an inside path. Barrel showed some lift through extension and primarily utilized a gap to gap approach. Maintained balanced throughout and consistently barrel baseball throughout batting practice producing sharp contact between the gaps. Very good student as well.
