John Blanchard III is a 2020 RHP/1B/3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Amite, LA who attends St. Thomas Aquinas HS. Strong and compact athletic build with an especially strong lower half. Smooth and repeatable mechanics on the mound with an over the top arm slot, gets lots of extension out front on release, fast paced delivery with a quick arm action. Fastball topped out at 86 mph early, mostly worked in the low 80's, gets lots of late life on his fastball. Curveball was his best pitch, gets tight 12/6 and biting action, buckled some knees with it and landed his curveball consistently for strikes. Right handed hitter, uses his strength well at the plate, has quick hands and a short line drive swing, can turn on the ball and impact it, consistent line drive contact with some jump. 7.50 runner. Good student.
