2018 PG Top Prospect Games at Maryland
Jack Wilhelm is a 2020 RHP/IF with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Reisterstown, MD who attends St. Paul's High School. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waist, projectable frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins with a leg lift up to belt with a hip turn and coil at top; full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release and lands slightly closed with strike foot at release. Occasionally gets mistimed at release and can continue to incorporate additional lower half into drive; topped out at 81 mph and showed short running life to arm side when on top. Did a nice job of keeping curveball down in the zone with 11-5 shape and depth; flashed a changeup at 69 mph, turns it over well. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing and loads hands back at start of swing. Stays short and direct to the ball, comfort hitting to the pull side and will continue to unlocked additional strength with extension out front at the point of contact. Very good student.
