Charles Otterbein is a 2017 OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Manchester, MA who attends Manchester Essex Regional High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with addtional room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well in the outfield with good energy to the ball and gets behind it, fields the ball out front, extra steps at release, uses a crow hop to gain momentum, full arm action through the back and gets on top of throws from a higher arm slot, additional lower half incorporated will add carry to throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a lower hand set in the box. Weight begins on backside and occasionally drifts to front side early, full swing path coming through the zone with a line drive plane. Contact approach at the plate and gets the barrel to the ball, creates line drive contact, shows carry off the barrel when on time with weight shift. Very good student.
