Gregory Halperin is a 2018 C/2B, OF, RHP with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Celebration, FL who attends Celebration. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary catcher with a low, side set stance while receiving. Gains some ground while working out of crouch with clean exchanges. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot generating softer, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a crouched, open stance and simple front side trigger. Hands load to a deep position creating slight coil and lower half works to contact with rotational actions. Loose, extended path to the baseball and created a line drive plane through extension. Primarily utilized a high contact mid field approach, but flashed the ability to turn the barrel and work to pull side as well. Also pitched using rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Created some recoil at finish from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some running action to arm side, topped at 70 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and occasional depth when staying on top of offering. Repeated mechanics well and consistently worked to the bottom of the strike zone. Good student as well.
