Christopher Watkins is a 2019 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 174 lb. frame from Ladson, SC who attends Ashley Ridge High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Primary left handed pitcher, high leg raise past belt, pause before coming to plate, changed looks and holds, extension down the mound, long arm circle, and threw from an over the top arm slot. Clean glove side mechanics and kept hitters off balance. Fastball worked 73-75/76 mph with sink to the lower third of the zone. Curveball showed 12/6 shape with depth and developing sharpness. Also utilized a changeup with short sink and replicated arm speed. Mature approach on the mound. Secondary first basemen, showed a long arm action, fielded the ball clean, smooth actions through the ball, and accurate feeds. At the plate, started with a wide base, open stance, high hand set, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Line drive swing plane with a short, compact hand path. Generated backspin with an approach that worked the opposite field.
