Austin Kenyon is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Wilmington, NC who attends IMG Academy. Large frame with long limbs and present strength throughout. Primary left handed pitcher with small side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Utilized lower half well while working in line to the plate. Deep arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy downhill plane in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a curveball offering that showed 1/7 shape. Generated good spin with some depth to the bottom of the zone in the mid 70's. Primarily looked to attack hitters with fastball offering before turning to off speed late in counts. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean, athletic footwork while closing to the baseball. Maintains momentum towards the bag through transition and displayed very good arm strength topping at 94 mile per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to contact with a level barrel plane. Barrel enters and exits the zone quickly. Primarily looked to the drive the ball to the middle of the field and flashed some jump off the barrel when on time and squared. Very good student. Named to the 2018 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
