David Souza is a 2019 IF/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Stockton, CA who attends Excel HS. Medium athletic build with good present strength. Right handed hitter, hanging leg load out front with a late hand hitch load, creates timing issues for himself before his swing starts, swings hard and creates bat speed, ball comes off the barrel well when on time and squared up, big chance to improve with simple adjustments. 7.20 runner, third base tools defensively, charges the ball well and has some carry and arm strength across the diamond, tends to field the ball underneath his body. Also pitched, balanced high leg raise delivery, stays tall at release, compact arm action, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly straight, can improve curveball by getting more out front with it on release. Good student.
