Alex Winchester is a 2018 RHP/3B with a 5-9 135 lb. frame from Leicester, NC who attends Asheville Christian Academy High School. Younger player with a lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.66 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, high hand and leg raise in unison, short stride, tall through backside, quick arm action, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Repeated delivery well and worked around the zone. Fastball worked 75-78/79 mph with short arm side life down in the zone. Best life to FB came when working on top. Changeup showed with subtle fade to the pitch low and out of the zone. Also showed a curveball with 11/5 shape and short depth, but showed tight spin. Also worked out from the infield, fielded the ball deep, long arm action, developing transfer and a clean release. At the plate, started with a wide base, slight crouch, high hand set, high back elbow, and a deeper hand load. Works up to the ball with a longer swing path. Swing works primarily through upper half with a line drive swing plane. Would continue to improve with additional lower half incorporation. Exceptional student.
