Michael Lopez is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 5-6 135 lb. frame from Elgin, IL who attends St Edward Central Catholic. Compact frame with a lean build. Body projects for additional strength with continued maturity. Ran a 7.72 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with projectable, athletic actions while surrounding and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with smooth glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Releases from a low three-quarters arm slot that produces some accurate carry across the infield, topping at 71 mph. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and leg lift trigger. Lower half launches to contact with rotational actions with occasional shift. Hands lanuch to contact on a loose, level path creating a line drive swing plane. Showed a mid-field, line drive approach throughout batting practice. Consistently squared contact to the middle of the field betweent he gaps. Tools will continue to develop with physical development and repetition.
