2018 PG Top Prospect Games at Maryland
Griffin Crane is a 2019 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Lancaster, NH who attends White Mountains Regional. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary outfielder, takes short steps moving towards the ball and does a nice job of working behind the ball, fields out front with some bend at waist, utilizes a crow hop to gain momentum, short arm action through the back and shows carry to the base with accuracy. Also pitched, big side step moving into delivery and gathers on backside with some drop and drive to lower half mechanics; high lead arm while working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, drops to low three-quarters at times and creates extnesion out front. Creates angle, mostly true in life and mixed a curveball with 1-7 shape, pitched to contact and threw strikes. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open and narrow stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Keeps hands inside the ball and stays linear with swing path, best contact when creating extension and lift out front. Worked the middle of the field with line drive contact, keeps hands inside the ball in swing. Very good student.
